Before There Were Tools
Black and White
oil & cold wax on wood panel
36" x 36"
This painting has at least three paintings underneath it. I just couldn’t get it to feel like I wanted. I would paint a layer, then scrape it back and then scrape another back, and another and another. It became an excavation that finally revealed an ancient, primal wildness underneath it all.
