As a student of dreams and mythology I was always drawn to the shapeshifter archetype. The shapeshifter is able to physically change forms, from a human to an animal, tree, or object. Like the process of spiritual transformation, painting offers a source of boundlessness. Each painting seems to have its own life, morphing inexplicably before my eyes. I have no idea what will emerge and what I will end up with…this keeps me painting.
