The old Spanish churches, with their altars honoring deceased loved ones with a fervor so deep you can feel the heat of hearts ablaze with grief, are sprinkled throughout the southwest. I entered Chimayo chapel a skeptic and later that day experienced it’s miracle when the dirt I took from the chapel completely disappeared, not one granule left.
